Howard University - Washington D.C. 1960-1964
From 1960 to 1964, I attended Howard University, where I served as President of the Student Council, made the Dean’s List, and became a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. In 1964, I helped organize D.C. Students for Civil Rights, a coalition of students from eight colleges and universities in the Washington, D.C. area. Our mission was to lobby Congress for the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. That experience not only deepened my commitment to social justice but also marked the beginning of a lifetime of civic and political engagement.
